Virtual Workshop Series.

April 22 | Becoming Established: LLCs and Nonprofits

The Business of Being an Artist, offered by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is a series of virtual workshops that is free and open to any artist, teaching artist, or folk artist who lives and/or works in the state of New Jersey. We are pleased to bring you the next session, Becoming Established: LLCs and Nonprofits.

Becoming Established: LLCs and Nonprofits

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

What: Ready to take your creative work to the next level? This high-impact webinar dives into how building your practice through a business model can transform your art into a sustainable, thriving venture. Explore two powerful pathways artists are using to grow, scale, and fund their work - while gaining real-world insight from a leading New Jersey business expert and artists who have successfully turned their vision into dynamic businesses. Your creativity is your gift - now learn how to make it your engine for growth.

Who: This session will be facilitated by Dr. Jackeline Mejias Fuertes with “Flashes of Inspiration” from working NJ-based artists Ricardo Roid and Camille Moten Rennie.

Dr. Jackeline Mejias Fuertes is the Regional Director for the New Jersey Small Business Development Center at Brookdale Community College. She is a leader, seasoned business advisor, change-maker, strategist, speaker, and entrepreneur who believes in sharing her knowledge and experience. She has received many accolades, including: President’s Beacon of Excellence Award from the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce, America’s SBDC State Star Award, Hometown Heroes Award for women entrepreneurship, Business Leadership award from the Community Affairs and Resource Center, was the first recipient of the Monmouth County Women in Business Award.

Ricardo Roig is a professional Fine Artist & Printmaker living in Scotch Plains, NJ, working out of his studio in Westfield, NJ, and directing all four of his galleries in Montclair, Chatham, Westfield, and Hoboken, NJ. The Hand Cut Print is his signature style, and his original works on paper emit colorful energy built on masterful technique. His work has been acquired by many private collectors including James M. Nederlander, Michael Chang, and Leslie Getzfrid. Notable clients include W Hotels, NYU Stern School of Business, RockRose Development NYC, Amazon, MGM, The Beekman Hotel, Hilton Hotels, City of Jersey City, City of Hoboken, SAKS Fifth Avenue, APM Terminals, Hoboken Historical Museum, World 50 Group, Christie's International Real Estate, and Valley Hospital in Paramus NJ, and New York City.

Camille Moten Rennie began her professional dance training with PHILADANCO! while earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance from Temple University. After performing professionally for five years as a freelance dance artist, she was invited to join the inaugural Master of Fine Arts dance degree cohort at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. Camille’s choreography has been presented by Dance NJ, NJPAC, Art House Productions, Project for Empty Space, Mana Contemporary, North 2 Shore, WestFest Dance, That Which Connects & Camden County, coLAB Arts, and more. In 2024, she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship by the NJ State Council of the Arts. Camille continues to share her work through the nonprofit Company of Collaborative Artists.

How: Registration is FREE but required to access the workshop materials and the Zoom links. Registration will close on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

No late registrations will be accepted. (The webinar will be recorded and shared with all registrants, but we encourage you to attend live to engage with the workshop speakers and fellow attendees.)
