Good Morning ,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m excited to share a unique opportunity for artists to contribute to Newark’s urban landscape through a Request for Proposal (RFPfor Al-Munir’s  STEAM-Enabled Garden Signage Project at Eden’s Farm and Jannah on Grafton. This project is funded by the City of Newark’s Office of Sustainability “Love Your Block” Mini-Grant Program, and it’s a moment to bring your creative vision to life at the intersection of art, education, and environmental justice.

At Al-Munir, we believe that art has the power to inspire, educate, and transform. This project seeks to engage artists passionate about their craft and their community by designing culturally relevant, visually compelling vinyl signage for our urban farms. The signs will feature QR codes that link to digital resources, giving our visitors access to information on crops, gardening tips, and educational content related to nutrition, health, and environmental wellness.

This is an opportunity to merge your artistic talents with Newark’s push toward a healthier, greener, and more engaged community. By participating, you’ll help bring awareness to food justice and sustainability while enhancing the experience of all who visit these public spaces.

RFP Key Details:

  • RFP Release Date: October 18, 2024
  • Proposal Submission Deadline: November 1, 2024
  • Project Start Date: November 8, 2024
  • Signage Completion & Installation Deadline: November 29, 2024
  • Funding Source: City of Newark’s Office of Sustainability, “Love Your Block” Mini-Grant Program
  • Budget: $4,500, covering design, fabrication, installation, and a community engagement event.

This is a perfect moment for artists to use their work as a tool for community building and education. You’ll be helping residents of Newark’s South and North Wards connect with their environment and engage with issues like food security and wellness in an interactive way.

If you or any artists in your network are interested in this opportunity, please see the attached RFP for details on how to apply. We can’t wait to collaborate with an artist who shares our vision for community empowerment, and who is eager to use their creativity to support education and engagement in the realms of nutrition and environmental advocacy.

Thank you for considering this opportunity, and for helping us spread the word to those passionate about creating art with purpose.

Best regards,
Bilal Walker
