The Refill is a curated monthly afterwork experience inspired by the spirit of bohemian salons, reimagined for today. Set within Newark Symphony Hall, it brings together Black artists, writers, thinkers, and cultural leaders in an intimate, design-forward environment that encourages creative exchange, relationship-building, and community restoration. Each month honors a different decade from the Hall’s 100-year history. This month’s theme, The Swinging 30s, celebrates Newark’s jazz age, where sound, style, and social life converged. Expect an evening shaped by the music, movement, and elegant fashion that defined the era, including a live performance that channels the spirit of the time. No two Refills are the same. Each session invites guests to experience a new dimension of the Hall, with thoughtfully curated moments unfolding across different spaces. Guests move through the building in ways that reveal it not just as a venue, but as a living archive of culture and creativity.
