By Way of Revolution Workshop

Greetings All,
In preparation for a new mural we are commissioning by artist Helina Metaferia, we are seeking women of color (over 18) of all backgrounds to join us for a workshop at Project for Empty Space this Saturday, May 31 from 1-5pm.Â
Together, we’ll explore how past movements for justice and liberation connect to the present, and highlight the vital—but often overlooked—roles BIPOC women have played in them. Through writing, movement, mindfulness, and creative exercises, we’ll reflect on how stress and trauma can live in our bodies—and how art, care, and community can help us heal and sustain ourselves.

Participants will also have the option to be photographed as part of an ongoing art project by Helina, where she combines portraits with historical images from social justice movements to create powerful collages.
This workshop is open to adults aged 18 and over. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited, so please register by 5 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
