Nadīne LaFond

Point of No Return, 2002, acrylic on hemp canvas, 20" x 16"

My art is about the exploration of balance between the inner and outer realms. The environments in my work serve as mirrors of one's inner landscape; showing all at once aspects of the past, present and future while revealing possibilities. The figures are often symbols representing our collective consciousness navigating the journey of Life. Symbols both personal and traditional touch on the give and take of balancing the natural and human-made worlds. Assigning a generic woman as the "being" with whom my audience is invited to identify, regardless of gender, heritage or anything else, is my way of stretching the understanding of the human experience. The artwork often has its own path laid out. I am simply guided by it.

LaFond was born in Brooklyn, NY and studied at Rutgers University. A vocalist and creator of workshops/retreats for the healing fine arts, she is a proud member of W.E.R.I.S.E. (Women Empowered Through Revolutionary Ideas Supporting Enterprise) and Co-op America's Green Business Network.
