Michelle Mumoli:

Being first generation American of Latin American parents, I grew up experiencing first hand the traditional, social and familial roles women are expected to play on a daily basis.

My internal questioning of mass produced media images leads to pieces, which are a response to the world around me; mini explorations of the impact social constraints make upon me not just as a woman, but as a human being, using both metaphorical as well as literal themes.

Working with archival and found video/film footage and using sculptural elements to reinforce themes, my purpose is to make the audience look deeper into the work. Henceforth, re-examining themselves to find their own personal beauty and unique sense of existence in our world today. Instead of what media and society project onto us foolishly.
