Bio
Marcelo dos Santos was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He along with his mother, father and younger brother immigrated to the United States when he was eight years old. He received his B.F.A. from the Ringling School of Art and Design, and his M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art, The Graduate School of Figurative Arts. He works out of a studio in Downtown Newark.
Artist Statement
My work is made up of eclectic imagery collected from various sources like literature, the media, popular culture, as well as political and social concerns. They are selected for their symbolic richness and capacity to establish a visual narrative.
