Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Hugo has resided in Newark since 1990. He attended
East Side High School in Newark and at Rutgers-University, also in Newark, from
which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Hugo has published fiction as well as articles here as well as in Portugal. He
has also been recognized for his poetic work in English as well as in
Portuguese, winning first place at a Rutgers-Newark poetry competition as well
as third place in poetry for the ProVerbo contest, open to all of North
America. Hugo has self-published two collections of poetry, Midday Epiphanies
and Heartbroken Prophecies and The Deepest Depths of Shallow Ponds, available
at local bookstores, through Amazon.com, or directly from the author via his
website (www.hugodossantos.com).
Hugo has performed poetry readings at Yale University, UMass at Amherst, Rutgers
University, at the Newark Library in support of Poetry Month in the city of
Newark, and in numerous bookstores and coffee shops in the area. |
